This was my go to for OCR. Scout just isn’t as accurate. Why deprecate?
Any functional alternatives? I have tools that use the OCR API, and now they are completely disabled. Since the sale to NVIDIA, you have lost all the value of the community that trusted you.
Bumping for visibility! The email I got says to switch to oss 120b but groq doesn’t support image to text for that model?

Yes I also have a whole application relying on llama-4-maverick, scout isn’t the same and will be the only vision model available on groq. Sadly if this is confirmed I will need to switch provider
Sadly they are continuing the deprecation process, as now it is even mentioned in the deprecated models section of the docs. Do tell if you find a solution, because i also have a need for this model for multiple projects.
I think I’ll go through OpenRouter, just waiting a few days to check if Groq provides any alternative
Samba nova has maverick
Probably Llama Maverick wasn’t cost effective for them.
I try to use OCR with Google Document AI + GPT OSS 120. But That’s not good, it just extracts the text it can, it lacks reasoning. We need a vision model.
Samba has Maverik, but it’s also in preview there.
Anyway, I don’t understand. It seemed to me that Maverik worked well here. Removing it will cause you to lose customers. The unique feature of Groq compared to Celebras was the Vision model. If I have to use OSS, I’ll go with Celebras, which is 10 times faster.

Also that’s a good point. Cerebras offers GPT-OSS 120B (closedai) at ~3000 tokens/sec according to their website.

There were plenty of warnings. Sambanova has maverick but it’s also not production.
